Cooking Passion Leads Man to Open New Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Hometown

(Wilkes-Barre, PA) Joe Mamary’s passion for cooking attracted him to Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. On Thursday, November 20 at 11 a.m., Mamary opens the first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in his hometown of Wilkes-Barre. To celebrate his new barbecue business, Mamary is throwing a three-day grand opening.

“I’m looking forward to living my lifelong dream of cooking and bringing the best barbecue to my hometown,” said first time owner, Joe Mamary. “My philosophy aligns perfectly with Dickey’s brand promise which is about being passionate about the art of great barbecue.”

Thursday, the first 50 guests will receive gift cards worth up to $50. On Friday, radio station 98.5 KRZ will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the new location serves up $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. One lucky guest will win a $500 gift card and three guests receive free barbecue for an entire year. Guests can stop by on Saturday for all-day merchandise giveaways.

Prior to pursuing his passion for cooking, Mamary worked at Yellow Book for over 30 years where he was involved in advertising. Mamary’s wife, Linda, a native Texan is the senior director of operation at Riverside Rehabilitation.
