Dickey’s Strikes Again in Montana

Dickey’s Barbecue couldn’t just stop at one store in Montana; the barbecue franchise had to expand the brand into downtown Missoula. This second location is opening this Thursday, March 21 and the first 100 customers will receive a free Pulled Pork Big Barbecue sandwich.

“We chose to become part of Dickey’s because of its laid-back, casual atmosphere that really highlights downtown Missoula,” said new owner James Gibson, who runs this location with his business partner Howard Mayne. “Dickey’s offers quality barbecue at affordable prices.”

Gibson was born in Dimmitt, Texas and raised in Stinnett, Texas. Prior to owning a Dickey’s Gibson spent 10 years in higher education and intercollegiate athletic administration. He has worked for various universities including Texas A&M University and University of Montana. Gibson is currently the Associate Director of Athletics for Business and Finance with Grizzly Athletics.

“We are excited about being part of a dynamic, growing and engaged community,” said Gibson. “Downtown Missoula is thriving and we are excited to be a part of that.  But more importantly, we are excited about being passionate about the art of great barbecue and bringing it to Griz Nation!”

This new location offers a full bar and is open seven days a week till 3 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit at 143 West Broadway, the ground level floor of the Palace Building, at the corner of Ryman and Broadway. The store phone number is 406.203.1557. Gibson and Mayne plan on opening several more locations in surrounding cities.
