New Career Path Leads Men to Barbecue with Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

(Ferndale, MI) The Detroit mortgage market slowed down in the summer of 2013 and shortly after JP Morgan Chase shut down their lending office where Jason Irvine and Craig Southerland were mortgage underwriters. Irvine and Southerland had always wanted to own their own business and on Thursday, July 24 at 11 a.m., the new business partners will open Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Ferndale. To celebrate their new career path, the new restaurant is throwing a three-day grand opening celebration

“We would eat at Dickey’s Barbecue in Troy all the time with co-workers from Chase and really enjoyed the food,” said first time franchise owner, Jason Irvine. “When our office closed, we wanted to start our own business and Dickey’s Barbecue just made sense because Michigan’s market wasn’t saturated with barbecue.”

Thursday opens with the first 50 guests receiving gift cards worth up to $50. On Friday, the new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will offer all day merchandise giveaways which includes t-shirts, magnets and more! Stop by on Saturday when radio station 100.3 WNIC is onsite from noon to 2 p.m. when the location is serving $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. Also, one lucky winner will be chosen for a $500 gift card and three winners will receive free barbecue for an entire year.

The new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Ferndale is located at 23123 Woodward Avenue and the phone number is 248.565.3355.  Keep up with the new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit on Facebook.
