Veteran Opens First Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in the Florida Panhandle
(Pensacola, FL) After serving as a civilian base commander at the Royal Air Force Base in Fairford England, Tim Hershberger returned to the United States wanting to be his own boss. On Friday, January 2 at 11 a.m., Hershberger and his wife, Nargiza will open the first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Pensacola. To celebrate their new endeavor, the couple is hosting a three day grand opening.
“We’re excited about being the first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in the Florida Panhandle and have received a lot positive feedback from locals the past few months,” said first time owner, Tim Hershberger. “Pensacola needed a great quality barbecue restaurant and we are ready to serve!”
Friday kicks off the party with the first 50 guests receiving gift cards worth up to $50. Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., the party includes radio station Nash FM 102.7 onsite when one lucky partygoer will be chosen for a $500 gift card and three winners receive free barbecue for an entire year. The new barbecue joint also offers $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches during the event. On Sunday, guests can grab Dickey’s Barbecue koozies, sunglasses and more.
The Hershbergers reside in Pensacola with their son. They have plans to open a second Dickey’s Barbecue location in Pensacola and a third in Fort Walton Beach.
